Towards a Core i9-12900KS?

Here is a new rumor concerning the Alder Lake range. Intel would prepare a new version of its high-end processor offering an even higher level of performance: the i9-12900KS. The last time we heard about a KS processor from Intel was the Core i9-9900KS. The idea is that this type of processor is a binnie chip that allows you to go much higher in frequency than the same “classic” K version.

According to Videocardz sources, this new chip could be presented at CES, next January and would be there to continue to show that Intel dominates the very high end in performance despite the arrival of AMD Ryzen with 3D V-Cache. The 12900KS could have a frequency of 5.2Ghz in boost on the P-Core (so 200 Mhz better than the current version of the 12900K and offer 5Ghz on all cores. It would be released just before the arrival of Ryzen 6000 for which AMD promised 15% higher performance in game thanks to the larger L3 cache. If these figures are true, this series could be quite competitive with the Alder Lake-S processors. Let’s not forget, however, that in our tests, the differences between Alder Lake and Ryzen 5000 are relatively noticeable. This series should only be released to “wait” until the Zen 4 CPUs arrive.
