The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is 75% more powerful in games than the Ultra 7 258V

We kick off the morning with a bit of marketing from AMD, who are announcing that they are literally folding the Core Ultra 7 258V in half. The brand is highlighting the capabilities of its Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 against its Intel rival, while at the same time praising its technologies. In short, this is the kind of claim where we’ll need to take a step back and wait for independent tests to confirm or deny.

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, the AMD CPU that bullies Intel’s!

Ryzen AI 9 HX370

First of all, a quick reminder that both processors share a hybrid configuration with high-performance and efficient cores. However, on the data sheet, AMD seems to have the advantage with a CPU featuring 12 cores (4P/8E), but above all 24 threads. It runs at 5.1 GHz boost and has 1 MB of L2 cache per core and a total of 24 MB of shared L3. Above all, we have a RADEON 890M graphics unit in RDNA 3.5 with 16 compute units running at 2.9 GHz.

On the Intel side, the processor has only 8 cores (4P/4E) running at 4.8 GHz boost. It also offers less cache memory, with 2.5 MB of L2 per core and 12 MB of L3 in total. Finally, there is an Arc Graphics 140T graphics unit (promising performance ?) with eight Xe cores running at 1.95GHz.

Be that as it may, the Reds have won the confidence and boast a clear advantage in all the games on their panel. The games are varied, ranging from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to Forza Horizon 5 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which is optimised for Intel hardware.

In all cases, AMD is announcing big gains, and it won’t be the XeSS that saves the day. The Reds have no hesitation in highlighting their FSR3 and HYPR-RX. In the end, it’s these technologies in particular that save the Reds, since once they’ve been deactivated natively, we sometimes have to deal with a change of steam, on Hitman 3 or Spiderman Remastered for example.
