We’ve all been waiting for the arrival of Nvidia’s ARM-based chip for Windows notebooks for several months now. A way of entering a market where Qualcomm has been trying to make its mark for some time now, but obviously with a different approach. However, as the months went by, talk of this chip ceased. Worse still, several rumors pointed to design issues or problems with the Windows on ARM version. All of which seemed to put the project in jeopardy. However, the project is back on the agenda with the leak of photos of a motherboard featuring the “mobile” version of the Nvidia N1 chip. Indeed, since the rumors began, we’ve known that the Greens were planning at least two variants, one of which would incorporate the full 20-core configuration, etched with TSMC’s N3B node.
Windows notebooks equipped with Nvidia N1 SoCs by the end of the year?
In these photos of a notebook PC motherboard, the N1 SoC is clearly visible, accompanied by eight memory chips bearing the precise SK Hynix reference H58G78CK8B. Although the manufacturer’s official website doesn’t offer a datasheet that corresponds exactly to this model, the closest component seems to correspond to a 16 GB LPDDR5T or LPDDR5X module capable of reaching 8,533 MT/s. When multiplied by eight, this configuration would be equipped with 128 GB of unified memory. A closer look at the other details reveals that the motherboard integrates Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also features two M.2 slots compatible with 2240-format SSDs, a USB Type-C connector, a USB Type-A port, an HDMI output and a 3.5 mm audio jack. In short, everything you need to properly equip a laptop in 2026.
So what are we to make of the situation when no official announcement has been made by Nvidia about this chip? Rumors suggest that the greens are targeting the second half of 2026 for a launch, in close collaboration with Dell (Alienware?) and Lenovo. Others point to the presence of a few products equipped with the mystery chip at Computex in a few weeks’ time. However, the situation on the memory market (RAM and SSD) could yet thwart Nvidia’s plans.
