A few days ago we told you about the likelihood of the launch of an ARM PC SoC jointly developed by Nvidia and Mediatek. The rumour of an announcement at Computex 2025 is clearly gaining momentum. The two chips (one for desktop, the other for laptop) will indeed be presented in the next few days, and will be branded Nvidia. However, we may have to wait a little while before seeing them arrive on the market in volume.
According to the highly informed Digitimes, Nvidia and Mediatek will not be able to deliver their N1X and N1C SoCs for PCs and laptops in volume before the end of 2026…Why such a delay? Well, that’s just rumour and speculation.
Problems with PC manufacturers… Really?
In theory, the problem lies with the main PC manufacturers who are testing these two SoCs and who seem to be experiencing a few difficulties. Once again, no concrete evidence has been put forward to detail these problems, but we can’t help but think of the hype unleashed around Snapdragon SoCs and the cold shower they have mostly caused in real use… An observation that has been reflected in sales, with some very lacklustre figures. The problem is that if Nvidia enters this field, the Gaming dimension will necessarily be a major marketing argument. Even if Microsoft is pushing for Windows on ARM to become more powerful, notably with its own ARM SoC-equipped Surfaces, winning over gamers will be a different kettle of fish. We know that the N1 and N1x SoCs are expected to incorporate graphics based on Blackwell architecture. What we don’t know is how all this will work together.

It’s highly likely that Nvidia’s approach will focus in part on efficiency. We can all see that current gaming laptops have reached a ceiling. In several discussions with Nvidia, our interlocutors made it clear that this would be the angle of attack. However, both compatibility with games on the market and stability will be two areas where they’ll have to be extremely convincing. According to current rumours, the brands are not serene… But we don’t know where these rumours are coming from.
Nvidia PC SoC: the big bluff?
So we’ll remain cautious about this leak. First of all, launching a product in May 2025 and marketing it at the end of 2026 is nonsense. It’s not Nvidia’s usual practice either. This project is likely to have a huge impact on the market, and we can assume that Nvidia is managing it as a priority and in a rather secretive way. It’s not unlikely that this latest rumour is a bluff… So we’re eagerly awaiting the official announcements.
