Coming from the same author to whom we owe new results of the i9-12900K, here is that it unveils us now the i5-12400.

The i5-12400 future king of the mid-range ?

Yesterday we talked about the i9-12900K showing very good performances and managing to compete or even exceed the 5950X with 8 threads less. Today it’s the turn of the i5-12400 to show itself and which promises to be competitive with the Ryzen 5 5600X.

AIDA64 i5-12400 leak

For the characteristics, the i5-12400 is in 6+0 configuration with 6 Golden Cove cores but no Gracemont cores, the frequency in boost is 4.4 GHz and 4 GHz in all core, the processor is equipped with 18 MB of L3 cache and has a TDP of 65W. In stress test on AIDA64, the software indicates a consumption of 78.5W for the CPU Package and reaching 60° in temperature (no precision on the cooling used).

R20 I5-12400 leak

Let’s go to the benchmark, where the processor is tested on Cinebench R20 and CPU-Z. On R20, the i5-12400 reaches 4784 points in multi-core and 659 points in single-core. These performances place the processor ahead of the Ryzen 5 5600X, which scores almost 10% less than the i5, while having higher frequencies.

CPUZ i5-12400 leak

Same observation with CPUZ, where the i5-12400 rises to 682 points in single core and 4984 points in multi-core, against 624 and 4811 points for the Ryzen 5 5600X, a gap of 10% in single core, but 3.5% in multi-core.
