The DLSS essential for the RT Overdrive mode of Cyberpunk

Recently, NVIDIA released a render video of the new RT Overdrive Mode that will be available in Cyberpunk 2077 on April 11. Clearly, while the game looks great with the new Ray Tracing effects, it becomes infinitely more demanding. To get an idea, an RTX 4090 without DLSS runs at 16 FPS in UHD……… Ouch.

Cyberpunk RT Overdrive Mode: 16 FPS with an RTX 4090 in UHD without DLSS!

Cyberpunk 2077 RT Overdrive Mode

About 19 hours ago, NVIDIA published a new demo video of the RT Overdrive Mode that will soon be implemented in the latest title from CD Projekt Red. If the latter greatly improves the visual quality of the title, it is also very greedy. In the description of the video trailer, the greens indicated that the game was running with :

  • An RTX 4090
  • A Core i9 12900K
  • 32 GB of RAM

Clearly, even if we are dealing with a heavy machine, if we disable DLSS, it’s dead for the Nvidia card. Indeed, without DLSS, the framerate was below 20 fps. Once activated, the framerate rises drastically to between 110 FPS and 130 FPS. Of course, this will depend on the areas of the game and the amount of effects to handle.

Clearly, if you want to take advantage of this new Ray Tracing rendering mode, the best thing to do is to activate DLSS… Otherwise, you might as well play in slide mode on PowerPoint. And the conclusion is inevitable:
