RX 9060 series at $349 and $449?

During its conference presenting the RX 9070 Series, the Reds also took the opportunity to release some information about the RX 9060 Series. Clearly, the company is targeting the mid-range segment, with prices in excess of €300. And we’ll have to wait until the second quarter to see these cards hit the market. In any case, there’s a lot of speculation here.

RX 9060 series: still 8 GB of VRAM

RX 9060 seriesOn the program, there are graphics cards that will be entering the mid-range sector, which is what AMD is aiming for. The price tag here would be in excess of €300. Our colleagues are talking about prices ranging from $349 to $449. While this may seem like an increase on the RX 7600 (XT), it is. However, it should be remembered that according to AMD’s new nomenclature, the company wants to compete with the future RTX 5060 (Ti).

In this respect, the cards’ technical specifications don’t seem very ambitious. Indeed, from the first details, we are told of a VRAM capacity of just 8 GB. While we were criticising NVIDIA on this aspect, the same sentence applies here. In 2025, 8 GB of VRAM is likely to be tight for video games. Numerous tests have shown that recent games easily manage to saturate this memory capacity.

This is all the more disappointing given AMD’s reputation for being generous with memory. We remember the 20GB of the RX 7900 XT, the 16GB of the RX 7800 XT and the 12GB of the RX 7700 XT. Finally, in the more affordable sectors, Intel stands out with its B570 and B580 with 10 and 12 GB of VRAM.

Finally, the cards are designed to offer a good performance/consumption ratio. The first TBP values are 150W and 200W. Of course, depending on the card, these figures could be revised upwards. Finally, we’d like to mention the support for technologies such as FSR4 and HYPR-RX. In short, we’ll keep you posted, with the launch scheduled for the second quarter.
