While AMD has just unveiled (partially) its new generation of Ryzen 7000 CPUs, we’ve also learned the theoretical timetable of its main competitor for the end of the year: Intel’s Raptor Lake. A calendar leaked during a commercial presentation in China now allows us to refine the dates, even if we are generally in line with the information we have had for some time now. Intel should officially present the new Raptor Lake CPUs on September 27th and the commercial launch will take place about a month later, on October 20th. It seems that pre-orders could be open well before the release date. The rest of the “non-K” chips are not expected to arrive until Q1 2023 (late February).

Raptor Lake septembre

In the meantime, motherboard brands will have been able to prepare their stocks for the new Z790 which, although it will be introduced at the same time as the Raptor Lakes, could be available earlier than the CPUs.

The 13th generation Intel processors are considered an evolution of the current Alder Lake generation. They will use the same hybrid core design, with a mix of “P” cores optimized for performance and “E” cores optimized for efficiency. However, on this new generation, the number of cores and threads will be increased with a top-of-the-line with 24 cores and 32 threads ( the 13900K ). The rest of the improvements will be in cache, IPC and operating frequency.
