MSI is announcing a new power supply with a block that aims to be top-of-the-range. The company is offering its MEG Ai T PCIE5, a model with a power rating of 1600W! What’s more, it comes with two 12V-2×6 connectors, so you can power two RTX 5090s at the same time!
MEG Ai1600T PCIE5: a top-of-the-range power supply from MSI!
As you can see, just like ASUS’ Thor power supplies, this model is particularly well designed. The block features various gold motifs, notably on the sides with a MEG logo and various markings in this colour. Clearly, it’s a success and very classy. Similarly, the power supply grille also benefits from a sophisticated design.
Of course, we’re dealing with a very top-of-the-range block, so the performance is maximum. This reference has been awarded Cybernetics Titanium, 80 Titanium and PPLP certifications. Of course, this model also complies with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards.
Internally, the brand opts for hand-picked components. We’re talking about capacitors of Japanese origin, all in 105°C. The PFC’s MOSFETS are made of silicon carbide, and all the necessary electrical protection is provided (OCP, OTP, OPP, SCP, OVP, UVP, SIP and NLO).
Ventilation is provided by a semi-passive fan. As long as the load level of the block does not exceed 55%, ventilation will not be activated. What’s more, the fan blows over imposing heatsinks, while the power supply can be monitored via software. Temperature, power output and fan speed can be monitored. A system equivalent to iCUE can be found like on some Corsair units.
There’s also fully modular cable management, with yellow 12V-2×6 connectors to ensure correct connection. The connectors are also sheathed, strand by strand, for an infinitely classier look than flat black cables.
Finally, MSI boasts a power supply with compact dimensions: 19 cm. That may sound like a lot, but 1600W in 19 cm is perfectly reasonable. In fact, the PH-1600TR from Phanteks is 21 cm deep, compared to 200 mm for the Dark Power Pro 13 from be quiet!
The price remains to be seen, but don’t expect to pay less than €400.
