Lenovo, like ASUS, MSI and many others, has seized the opportunity to offer a portable console in the form of the Legion Go. At next year’s CES… In around three weeks’ time, the brand is set to present the successor to its first-generation model, the Legion Go 2. There’s a lot of new features on the programme, not least the screen and on-board processor!
Legion Go 2: an OLED screen and a Z2 Extreme?
For the moment, it’s just rumours, but with this new iteration, Lenovo could well be offering us a console equipped with an OLED screen for an even better display. However, there will be no change to its size: 8.8″, all with QHD resolution … If there’s no change in specifications.
Internally, Lenovo is said to be turning to AMD to power its console with an AMD Ryzen Z2G processor, incorporating RADEON 680M graphics. However, a version equipped with a Ryzen Z2 Extreme would also be offered. We’re talking here about a CPU with eight cores, three in the Zen 5 and five in the Zen 5C, which are economical models. As for the iGPU, we’re talking about a 16-core graphics unit, all in RDNA 3.5, to boost the console’s graphics performance.
Otherwise, like the Nintendo Switch, the console will feature detachable controllers. What’s more, the overall shape of the console has been rounded off to make it more comfortable to hold. It has to be said that the first version was more angular. Finally, as far as the operating system is concerned, we’ll be seeing a model running Windows 11, like the ASUS console in particular… So there goes SteamOS.
Now we just need to know the price and other technical specifications, such as battery life, dimensions and so on. But for that, we’ll have to wait until the machine is unveiled.
