With its Claw series of consoles, MSI has carved out a place for itself in this new sector of portable consoles. At this year’s Computex, the brand announced its intention to continue in this field with the Claw 8 AI and Claw 7 AI . More recently, a CES page revealed the console’s first specs, which are now available. Let’s find out what the brand has in store for us.
Claw 8 AI , Claw 7 AI , specs :
Naturally, the 8″ version will be the larger of the two. In fact, this version already boasts a larger screen at 8″, as well as better definition. It will therefore display 1920×1200 in a 16:10 aspect ratio, while still being touch-sensitive. What’s more, it should offer good responsiveness at 120Hz, as well as good brightness (500 nits). As for the 7″ version, you’ll have to make do with a classic 1080p model with the same characteristics.
To power the latter, we find a Core Ultra 200 processor, an Ultra 7 258V in Lunar Lake, in line with what has been announced so far. This is a processor equipped with a total of 4 P-Cores and 4 E-Cores capable of reaching 4.8 GHz in turbo mode, while consuming a maximum of 37W. Finally, there is 32GB of on-pack RAM, LPDDR5x running at 8533 MT/s. The iGPU in both consoles is an Intel Arc 140V.
As for the battery, the 8″ console has a larger capacity of 80 Whr, compared with 54.5 Wh for the 7″ console.
With these consoles, we should have machines that are sufficiently autonomous to play AAA games for about 4 hours. At least, that’s what was announced on the CES data sheet. In no particular order, we’ll be mentioning a dual-fan cooling system and two heat pipes. For gaming, of course, we have XeSS technology, currently supported by over 150 AAA games, while the console takes advantage of Microsoft’s Copilot and App Player functions, enabling you to retrieve and play Android games.
