On Reddit, we learn that one user was extraordinarily lucky, especially in these times. The user bought a 32 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM stick and ended up with the complete package containing ten modules in total. Among the comments, an Amazon employee explains how this could have happened!
He bought a 32 GB Corsair Vengeance memory module, but received ten by mistake!
In short, AccomplishedFan8690 decided to purchase a 32 GB RAM stick, which he paid $300 for. However, upon receiving his package, he was pleasantly surprised to discover that there was not one, but ten sticks. The employee in charge of logistics simply didn’t send the module that was ordered, but the entire box that went with it.
Obviously, this post has the potential to cause a lot of jealousy. However, in the comments, an Amazon employee explains what might have happened. In the warehouse, rather than scanning a single stick inside the box, the picker scanned the entire box on which the individual code was printed. In the end, his action still counted as one module. Apparently, this is a common mistake.
Of course, the person in question was only looking to buy one memory stick, and having ten is simply useless to him. So he announced that he would resell the surplus at reasonable prices, below market value (what a crazy guy).
In the end, we have an Amazon employee who must be sweating bullets right now. At $300 per bar, the loss amounts to $2,700. We know that Amazon employees have lost their jobs for less than that. In fact, in this kind of situation, one wonders whether Amazon would have the means to claim back the goods that were wrongfully received.
In any case, if no one claims the surplus RAM, it’s good news for our lucky guy of the day, who now has something to help him make ends meet!
