CPU demand in freefall!

MindFactory is one of the few computer merchants (in EU) to be transparent about its sales figures. In fact, for each product reference, you can see the number of purchases rounded to the nearest 5 units. This means that regular visits to the site can provide statistics on revenues generated by the store, as well as market share for each brand. What’s most striking is the alarming drop in CPU demand over the first 15 weeks of 2026.

CPU demand in free fall!

AMD still ahead of Intel, but the gap is closing!

MindFactory baisse ventes de CPU As you can see, as the weeks go by, demand for processors is rapidly crumbling. Indeed, in the first six weeks, the store was selling almost 1,400 AMD CPUs, before dropping to a first plateau below around 1,000 units. Finally, in the fifteenth and sixteenth weeks, sales stabilized at just over 400 processors sold. The drop is brutal: almost 70% less in just a few weeks!

On the Intel side, in the first few weeks of the year, MindFactory was selling almost 200 processors, whereas we’re now at minus 100 units. A drop in sales of around 50%.

The reasons behind this drop?

Of course, the reasons behind such a sharp drop in processor sales may be linked to current RAM prices. If you’re on a platform still using DDR4, it’s understandable that the €400 to €500 required to buy a 32GB DDR5 kit could be a limiting factor. What’s more, we can also assume that the first two quarters of the year are not the most propitious for consumption. Add one to the other, and we end up with a deleterious situation for the market.

Add to this the rise in energy costs linked to the conflict in Iran, which adds an extra burden to households. The extra money invested in filling up a car is money you can’t put into a new CPU. Remember that these figures come from Germany, where pump prices are higher than ours.
