Asrock arrives with a “NUC” under Meteor Lake

Since the discontinuation of Intel-made NUCs, we’ve seen a surge of products that are, admittedly, increasingly interesting. While AMD is now gaining the upper hand with its integrated graphics, above and beyond what we used to find from the blue, the arrival of Meteor Lake chips could change all that. ASRock, which seems intent on extending its product range, offers a NUCBOX-155H Mini PC equipped with the Core Ultra 7 155H, the famous SoC found in the MSI Claw console.

This processor features six performance cores and eight efficiency cores, plus two low-power efficiency cores. So we have a total of 16 cores and 22 threads. Base clocks are 900 MHz for efficient cores and 1.4 GHz for P cores, while boost clocks reach 3.8 GHz and 4.8 GHz respectively. There are 2 DDR5 slots for a maximum capacity of 96GB.

The highlight of this version is its extensive connectivity, including two 2.5 Gbe LAN controllers, which are Intel i226 variants, Thunderbolt 4/USB4, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 and dual HDMI 2.1. In addition to the Nvme, a 2.5″ SSD can also be installed on a SATA port.

Equipped in this way, this mini PC boasts the powerful multithreading capabilities of the Core Ultra 155H and the graphics power of the new integrated ARC chip, making this solution a good option in the face of AMD competition. It remains to be seen whether this product will be available in Europe. The barebone version (without ram or storage) is priced at $699 on the US market. Lastly, this product comes from Asrock’s “industry” division, so it’s far from certain that it will be available in the traditional distribution channels not far from here…
