Apex X16 Destroyer: sixteen M.2 slots on a PCIe card!

Sabrent x16 DestroyerSabrent is showcasing a card in PCIe x16 format. This card will occupy just one expansion slot in a PC, enough for a number of expansion slots.

As you can see, the solution in question features a large number of M.2 slots, sixteen in all. If eight of them are visible on the front of the card, this means that the other eight are on the rear. This model features active cooling for the chip in charge of managing all this little world, while an auxiliary 6-pin PCIe power supply is present at the rear.

To raise the temperature, the brand presented its board equipped with a total of sixteen 8TB Rocket 4 Plus SSDs.

All that remains to be seen is the RAID modes supported and the performance offered by such a configuration. In the meantime, it’s easy to imagine this kind of equipment mounted on server/workstation platforms. All that remains to be seen is whether or not there’s a real desire to market it!
