A repainted RTX 4080? No warranty!

On this post-CES Monday, the activity is not very good… That’s why we come to tell you about a redditor who started modding his RTX 4080 Founders Edition. Indeed, so that his card matches with the rest of his PC, TeknoMage13 decided to repaint his card in white.

Beware of the warranty when modding your RTX 4080!

RTX 4080 moddingFinally, this news that may seem without much interest is the opportunity for us to make a little reminder on the modification of hardware.

Very often, in case of modification, even minor, the warranty is void. Some brands don’t even allow the dismantling of graphics cards. That’s why there are seals on the heatsink screws. There, with a custom paint job, you can imagine that in case of a problem, NVIDIA will refuse to take care of it in after-sales service. On such expensive components, there are a few considerations to take into account.

Coming back to this 4080 FE, disassembly can also be complicated in some ways. Most importantly, be aware of the condition of the thermal pads after operation. Disassembling the card can tear them, rendering them inoperable. This was not the case for our redditor as he decided to leave the PCB on the heatsink.

This news was for us the opportunity to make a little reminder about hardware modification. And to know if you can safely modify your hardware, the best thing is to read the warranty conditions… Or to reach the end of the warranty period.
