A new PCie board from MSI with the Herald BE NCM865

MSI announces a new PCie card with the Herald BE NCM865. This is a PCIe wireless network adapter offering “Wi-Fi 7” and “Bluetooth 5.4” connectivity. It features PCI-Express x1 and USB 2.0 host interfaces. The latter is installed in a PCIe slot. It can be connected to a USB 2.0 connector, available on the motherboard, using the supplied cable to activate Bluetooth functionality.

The board is equipped with two antenna sockets, as well as a USB 2.0 connector and an M.2 E-Key slot, to accommodate the Qualcomm NCM865 WLAN module. It provides Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) with a maximum data rate of 5.8 Gbit/s.

The controller supports 320 MHz-wide channels in the 6 GHz, 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands.

It also supports older Wi-Fi standards, up to 802.11n on the 2.4 GHz band. The Bluetooth component adheres to the latest Bluetooth 5.4 standard, and supports multi-link operational topology. The package also includes a magnetized base antenna module. It is reminiscent of those included with MSI’s high-end motherboards.
