For a while, Cooler Master was working on graphics cards. Last year at CES, the brand showed off its own cards. However, it turns out that these were produced in very small series. How they were sold is still a matter of debate, since they were originally intended to end up in pre-assembled PCs. But it seems that some of them also ended up on the retail market. Today, technician Brother Zhang is lucky enough to have an RTX 5080 in his hands. And fortunately, he was more frightened than hurt!

A bad connection that makes sparks fly!
After the owner had changed his power supply, he restarted his PC. But, go figure, the card starts sparking, and as the first set of sparks isn’t enough, he tries to turn the PC back on a second time. The card sparks again, and he concludes that the card is dead. He then sends it to a technician, Brother Zhang. The technician inspects the card, and it’s clear that there’s nothing wrong with it. According to him, the sparks were caused by a faulty connection which, fortunately, did not damage the card! That’s good, because it’s not a common sight!
A card based on the ROG Astral design?
Via our colleague, we learn that this Cooler master model is not entirely made by the brand itself. If we’re to believe what’s being said, it’s a ROG Astral card whose heatsink has been customized with a new fairing and ventilation. In any case, the design is convincing, to say the least.
On the other hand, given its pedigree, the card must be pretty damn expensive, and that’s probably why so few have been put into circulation.
