Zen5 receives initial support in ASUS bios!

ASUS has released new bios for some of its motherboards. These include support for 256 GB RAM, as well as preliminary support for Zen5.

ASUS has released a whole new batch of bios for some of its motherboards:

Now, if we look at the SMU table, we see that Granite Ridge now has an identifier: 00B40Fxx. Next, the Agesa version is 1.1.7.0, while AMD is dropping the ” ComboAM5PI ” naming scheme. Instead, we see the name FireRangePi, referring to mobile processors equipped with chips of desktop origin.

This first support indicates that brands are receiving their first copies from AMD. This allows them to track down the first operating problems, or even the first bugs.

Otherwise, it gives us a first clue as to the possible launch date of these processors. If we take into account the five months between the first Ryzen 8000G supports and their actual launch, we can expect the Ryzen 9000s in September. What’s more, more information is expected at Computex 2024, where AMD is scheduled to hold a conference!
