At present, things are quite complex in the RAM sector. In fact, HBM is taking over production lines, for the benefit of the AI sector. As a result, prices are rising, and we’re gradually seeing 64GB kits costing over €600 and heading towards €900. It’s against this backdrop that XPG launches its Armax RAM. The latter also offers an aRGB version.
Armax: XPG RAM in a tense context!
Clearly, from a design point of view, this Armax series is far from the Lancer range. In fact, these bars are equipped with a heatsink with pronounced angles and a particularly hollow relief. The brand also offers an RGB version in the form of a luminous bar on top of the module, while a non-illuminated version is also available.
In all cases, the brand remains conservative when it comes to frequencies, with kits running at 6000 MT/s and 6400 MT/s, the sweet spot for AMD and Intel processors today… Although with Arrow Lake Refresh and their native RAM support at 7200 MT/s, things will change. Otherwise, on the timing front, RAM was tested with CAS Latencies in CL30 and CL32. Voltage, meanwhile, reaches 1.4V, while XPG offers memory capacities of 16 and 32 GB per module. Finally, we find XMP and EXPO profiles in Intel and AMD.
Of course, we don’t yet know the selling price, but we’re curious to know how XPG will position its memory in view of current prices. Our prognosis? It’s not going to be pretty.
