Today marks the launch of the new-generation X870 AMD motherboards. The manufacturers are launching their models on the market. Let’s take a look at what each of the major manufacturers on the French market has to offer.
ASUS X870 motherboards :
On the ASUS side, we find a number of cards, from entry-level with the Prime -P and -P WiFi models (€310 and €325), to mid-range with the TUFs and high-end with the ROGs. Of course, the ROG Strix range is always present, with -F and -E models at particularly high prices: ~€500 and €600 respectively. The TUF range is more affordable, with a -Plus WiFi model priced at €390, while the ROG Crosshair breaks the ceiling at over €700!
However, the ProArt range is still there, with a -Creator WiFi priced at almost €580. And if you’re a fan of compact ITX PCs, we’ve got a Strix -I for around €540.
MSI cards :
From MSI’s point of view, it’s clear that the brand wanted to emphasize its top-of-the-range model, since the MPG X870E Carbon is the most popular model. Compared with ASUS, the card is priced at around €500. This model offers a wealth of connectivity, and a particularly complete I/O Shield plate. Of course, the spearhead of the series is the GodLike model, not yet available at the time of writing.
However, if you look hard enough, you’ll come across the X870-P WiFi, a mid-range model that looks pretty good. Clearly, this is the sweet spot for setting up a configuration with new-generation hardware at a good price (~€300). Otherwise, you’ll find the Tomahawk at around €340.
Some cards from Gigabyte :
From Gigabyte, we also find a few references, notably the X870 Aorus Elite and Elite Ice, mid-range boards that look really good for around €340. The X870E Aorus Pro version comes in at €400 ~420, compared with €370 for the X870E Aorus Elite. If you look hard enough, you may come across a higher-end model in the company of the X870E Aorus Master, available for over €600 on the LDLC group.
At ASRock, it’s not quite there yet…
Finally, if you’re looking for ASRock cards, availability is far from effective, with only two references available on Amazon. These are the X870E Taichi and Taichi Lite models. However, compared with the previous generation, the prices seem more affordable: €560 and €490.
For the moment, unfortunately, we have no news of the X870E Nova or other models.
What to remember:
At the moment, it’s launch day, so it’s normal that not all cards are available yet. In the days to come, more affordable models should become more widespread, while all merchants should offer more extensive catalogs. For the moment, ASUS seems to be the brand with the most present references.
