The Steam Hardware Report is a voluntary survey that takes place every month. Although indicative and non-binding, it allows us to quickly track the evolution of PC gamers’ hardware… At least, those who use and respond to the survey. For the month of November, we’d like to highlight the strong growth of Windows 11!
Windows 11: 4.18% growth on Steam in November 2024!
The main new feature of this month’s Steam stats is related to the operating system. Indeed, we note a strong increase in the share of Windows 11, which gained 4.18% this month, while Windows 10 lost 4.15%. On the other hand, we can imagine that gamers aren’t going there out of the goodness of their hearts, since the end of Windows 10 support has been announced for next year, while new machines incorporate W11 by default.
But more generally, we’re seeing a slight drop in the share of Windows systems used on Steam, down 0.05%, which corresponds to the rise in MacOS and Linux systems combined. Apple’s share rose by 0.02%, compared with 0.03% for Linux.
Otherwise, on the pure hardware side, we don’t see much new. Here, the most widely used graphics card remains the RTX 3060, although it is losing ground. This month, the number of users is down by 0.70%, while the RTX 4060 mobile is up by 0.58%. Will the mobile card soon be ahead of the desktop model? It looks like it.
When it comes to processors, platform players seem to prefer Intel’s six-core models running between 2.3 and 2.69 GHz. In terms of market share, Intel lost ground slightly this month (-1.94%). Here, the market share of the two companies is 35.71% for AMD versus 64.23% for Intel.
Finally, gamers have access to machines equipped with 16 GB of memory, a 1080p screen, while their total storage space exceeds 1 TB. As for VR headset users, it seems that the Meta Quest 2 still has the wind in its sails (34.14%).
