What is AMD doing with its RX 9000 launch?

It’s so hard to understand!
Episode 1 begins with a complete lack of information about the next generation of RX 9000 graphics cards at AMD’s CES presentation. No slides, no communication, and yet the press had received the slides for the RX 9070 (XT) and RX 9060 (XT) before the start of CES. AMD’s explanations for the lack of information were less than convincing.

Episode 2: A leak with the alleged performance of the RX 9070 XT under 3DMark Time Spy Extreme and 3DMark Speed Way appeared and disappeared just as quickly. The performance figures are pretty good, and while it goes without saying that we need to be cautious, the results place the RX 9070 XT between the RTX 4070 Ti and the RX 7900 XTX in Speed Way, and between the RX 7900 XTX and above the RTX 4080 Super in Time Spy Extreme. Meanwhile, there are rumours of an official announcement from AMD scheduled for January 22nd, 11 days from now.

Episode 3: Frank Azor, head of AMD’s gaming architecture department, told PCWorld that all the leaks prior to CES were inaccurate (source : Videocardz). According to him, the performance expected from the next generation of AMD cards will be much better. Has he taken the performance of Episode 2 into account? It’s hard to say. One thing’s for sure, we can’t understand AMD’s communication strategy, which throws out information like bread to pigeons. So either AMD is trying to confuse potential future buyers of the NVDIA RTX 5000 or the AMD RX 9000 has some surprises in store for us. One thing’s for sure, everyone’s waiting for clear communication from the Reds.
