Ah, the ” warranty void if removed ” stickers… Those little things that prevent you from changing the thermal paste on your graphics card, on pain of voiding your warranty. The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) already had these in its sights a few years ago, as they ran counter to users’ rights. The FTC is now targeting a number of brands, including Zotac, ASRock and Gigabyte, which seem to be putting up resistance!

Clearly, these brands continue to use these little stickers to discourage users from maintaining their own hardware. Indeed, this is the FTC’s main complaint.
Clearly, these brands’ warranty conditions are problematic, since they suggest that using a maintenance service or third-party parts invalidates the warranty. According to the FTC, this stems from the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act , which stipulates that the warranty cannot be dependent on the use of a service or brand.
As a result, these companies have 30 days to comply, or face financial and legal consequences. To be continued.
