As a reminder, in order to compete in the entry-level sector, NVIDIA should be offering a new RTX 3050 in the near future. However, unlike the 8 GB version, this RTX 3050 6 GB doesn’t feature the same GPU, with less VRAM and a lower price.
RTX 3050 6 Go: a $180 price tag and a February 2024 launch?
As we’ve just seen, NVIDIA is taking the last orders for the GTX 1650 and GTX 1630. Once these orders are completed, production of these cards will come to an end, leaving the entry-level sector with nothing from NVIDIA.
To fill this gap, we should see a new version of the 3050. The card will feature 6 GB of VRAM and a neutered GPU. The latter will be based on a GA107 GPU containing only 2048 cuda cores. Obviously, with 6 GB of memory, the bus takes a hit and should be 96 bits. Last but not least, the card’s power consumption should be seriously reduced: 70W of TGP versus 130W for the original card.
We’re now turning our attention to the retail price, which should be less than $200, or more precisely $180. As for the launch, the card is scheduled for February 2024.
