The OPP (Open Price Program) was a program that allowed NVIDIA partners to sell cards at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. But, as we have seen, this program has come to an end on the manufacturer’s side, and the consequences are already being felt on invoices. Zotac is raising its prices and canceling orders. And more broadly, prices are rising across the board!

End of the OPP: prices are rising!

Zotac is being singled out simply because some users have been tracking the brand’s store prices for a while now. The key takeaway is that since the end of NVIDIA’s program, prices are rising at the Chameleon’s partner. The RTX 5090 is now priced at $2,999, while the RTX 5080 has gone from $999 to $1,249. Remember that at $1,000, the RTX 5080 was selling at its MSRP in dollars.

At the same time, a number of reports of canceled orders have begun to surface. Warning emails highlight system errors affecting order processing. While some might cry foul at the strange coincidence, it’s worth noting that the brand’s store is currently undergoing maintenance, which is a perfectly plausible excuse.

More generally, card prices are skyrocketing, with price increases now reaching between 20 and 22%. For example, the RTX 5070 Ti has seen its price rise from $749 (the card’s MSRP) during the sales to $949 currently. Another user managed to buy a 5070 Ti from PNY at its recommended retail price, just before a sudden $200 increase. Finally, we also note canceled orders from Newegg and Walmart.

In short, this news is not reassuring for the future, nor is it reassuring for our wallets. Between graphics cards and memory, you’ll soon have to sell a second kidney to build a PC.
