NVIDIA is gradually preparing for the launch of its new generation of graphics cards, the RTX 50. However, the brand doesn’t want to do as it did with the RTX 40, namely launch new cards while the shelves are full of older-generation models. It’s true that retailers had their hands full with RTX 30s when Ada Lovelace arrived.
RTX 40: towards increasingly empty shelves!
Basically, if you believe what’s being said on the net, some cards are already sold out. In China, for example, there are already no stocks of RTX 4090Ds. The situation is similar for the RTX 4080 Super, since NVIDIA’s partners have already received their last batches of cards. As for the RTX 4070 Ti Super, it’s the same story, with the last batches due to be shipped this month, with shortages expected by the end of November.
All this follows the RTX 50 launch schedule. As we told you here, in January the Chameleon will be launching its RTX 5080 and RTX 5090/D, so it’s only natural that the 4090/4080 should be the first to be discontinued. Then, in February, it’s the 70 series, followed by the 60s in March.
NVIDIA partners will therefore continue to be supplied with RTX 4070 Super and RTX 4070 until December. As for the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060, we imagine that the last batches will be shipped until January/February.
