The ASUS range of ProArt cases is expanding, and now welcomes a new reference. Whereas up until now we’ve had the PA602 and then the Wood version, the Taiwanese brand is preparing the PA401, a more compact version equipped with a wooden front panel. The case is less functional than its predecessor, but is also expected to be more affordable.
PA401: a more compact, older case than the PA602!
With this new case, ASUS offers us a pretty baby measuring 225 (W) x 412 (D) x 503 (H) mm. Even so, it only supports ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards.
Otherwise, the design will be in the same vein as the first model in the series. The front features an open design with a vertical ash wood grille. Of course, there’s a dust filter, but the airflow should be maximal! We’ll also note the presence of three fans, two 160 mm on the front and a third 120 mm on the rear. The 160 mm fans are rated at 138 CFM and a static pressure of 3.5 mmH2O, compared with 58 CFM and 2.0 mmH2O for the 120 mm fan.
In terms of component compatibility, this model will accommodate graphics cards up to 315 mm in length. However, as far as CPU fans are concerned, we’re stuck with the classic 160 mm height, which is a bit of a shame.
Access to the case’s interior is via two buttons that release the side panels. At the rear of the motherboard tray, we find a space for cabling between 35 and 53 mm, while clips are there to help hold the cables in place. As for ventilation, there’s a PWM hub for five fans. Last but not least, the power button is locked to prevent accidental pressing… Or a bad joke. You have to admit, it wouldn’t be very funny during a rendering.
Finally, we’ll mention a launch in China on December 5 at a price of 579 yuan (~76 €). If it arrives in Europe, clearly it won’t be at that price, otherwise, it’s the best value for money ever seen in a camera!
