The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 has certainly been the talk of the town lately (between pre-orders in China and the first 2D tests). What’s more, it’s AMD’s next CPU launch, innovating by integrating two 3D V-Cache arrays, one per CCD. While the processor is due to arrive on April 22 at a price of $899 H.T., it was spotted on eBay before the announcement was withdrawn.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 already on sale on eBay… Then withdrawn!

A CPU from OEM channels?

As you can see, an eBay capture shows a 9950X3D2 for sale. The CPU appears to be genuine, given the markings on its IHS. Already, the name is clearly visible, as is the serial number. However, the CPU doesn’t appear to have come from a consumer batch, as the plastic packaging would suggest. Indeed, this is typical of the packaging used by OEMs and assemblers.

In itself, this announcement is consistent with the April 22 launch date. Indeed, CPU launches are scheduled weeks in advance, and the first stocks are sent to dealers in advance to give them time to prepare for the big day.

An announcement that shouldn’t have ended up online!

As the launch is scheduled for April 22, you can imagine that this advert shouldn’t have been online. That’s why it’s no longer available. What’s more, the sale price is very aggressive, with bids starting at $495. Our colleague even mentions an immediate purchase option at $580, a price well below the official $899 announced by AMD.

In any case, with this screenshot, if there is an investigation by AMD, finding the origin of the announcement shouldn’t be too difficult. All the company has to do is find out who the CPU in question was intended for via its serial number.
