The whole kid’s world is waiting for GTA 6 to arrive. After several postponements, Rockstar promised that the new opus would arrive at the end of the year, more precisely on November 19, 2026. The promise of record sales for the whole industry… Well, not the whole industry, since the PC version is scheduled for later. And if we look at the PC porting of Rockstar’s two major titles, there’s plenty to worry about. Indeed, GTA 5 was released in September 2013 on consoles, PC gamers had to wait until April 2015 – no less than 19 months – before discovering the Windows port. With Red Dead Redemption II, Rockstar has slightly shortened the delay, but the gap was just as substantial: 12 months separated the console release from the PC launch.
GTA 6 on PC in February 2027?
But since these episodes, the gaming market has changed considerably. The weight of the PC is increasingly important, and porting, which seemed secondary 10 years ago, is a major issue today. Some recent leaks seem to announce a very rapid arrival of the PC version.
On X, insider Detective Seeds reported having contacted several former Rockstar Games employees. Three of them confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 would aim for a PC release in February 2027, just three months after the console launch. But the comments are not kind to Detective Seeds. Part of the community remains skeptical. Many feel that such a small gap could cannibalize PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sales… But the opposite reasoning may apply. Most console owners are aware that their platform is aging, and may defer their purchase.
For its part, Detective Seeds defends its information by explaining that holiday sales should be enough to guarantee an excellent console balance sheet, enabling Rockstar to close its fiscal year with record results. Other rumors point to an August 2027 release date… a timetable that is of great interest to PC brands.
