OneXGPU is a company we spoke to you about last November, following the launch of its external graphics card based on the RX 7800M XT. This time, the brand is back with a new solution. Unfortunately, it’s based on a small RX 7600M XT and offers even less performance. However, the price is still high, which could slow down its adoption.
OneXGPU Lite: an external graphics card based on the RX 7600M XT!
The OneXGPU brand has just announced a new external graphics card. It’s based on a rather old chip, the 7600M XT. Since AMD hasn’t launched any more recent mobile GPUs, they’ll have to make do with old-generation solutions if they want to offer new products. As a result, the card will not benefit from FSR 4 support, while its performance may begin to show its limits. Let’s not forget that the card is a model from the mobile world, and that it’s an entry-level chip. What’s more, it is backed by a total of 8 GB of VRAM, which may prove limited in recent games such as Borderlands 4, which seems to be particularly demanding in this respect as graphics quality increases!
However, this external card does have the advantage of arriving in a compact format. Its dimensions are 114x116x34.5 mm. As for connectivity, it connects to the system via a USB4 v2 port or an OCuLink. The advantage of USB4 v2 lies in its 80 Gbps data rate, similar to that offered by Thunderbolt 5. The connectivity offers sufficient bandwidth to carry the PCIe signal as well as the display and other data. Finally, power is supplied via a 280W brick.
The only snag in this story is the sale price, which is particularly high for such an old GPU: $699 with a (false?) discount.
