On the graphics card front, the OneXGPU 2 is an exciting new feature. In layman’s terms, this is an external GPU that can give a boost to a laptop or mini-PC, for example. However, this new iteration only seems to be available for the Chinese market… For the time being.

OneXGPU 2: an external RX 7800M!

GPU-wise, we find AMD’s RX 7800M, a chip based on the Reds’ Navi 32. There are 60 compute units on board, with a total of 3840 stream processors running at 2145 MHz. As for memory, we have 12 GB of GDDR6 with a 192-bit interface. All this coupled with memory operating at 18 Gbps gives a bandwidth of 432 GB/s. Last but not least, it consumes just 180W of power.

All this is housed in an external magnesium alloy case with an air cooling system. However, the whole thing weighs in at a fairly hefty 1.59 kg for dimensions of 229.5 (W) x 175 (D) x 43 (H) mm. That, plus the laptop in the bag, adds up to quite a lot. However, the case also has an M.2 slot for a PCIe 3.0 SSD.

As for connectivity, we find an Oculink in PCIe 4.0 x4 for the graphics and a USB-C 4.0. As for video outputs, we have one HDMI and two DisplayPorts, while two USB-A 3.2 Gen2s round things off!

All that’s left is to mention the retail price of between $885 and $1000 on the Tmall and JD.com websites – no, it’s not cheap!
