NVIDIA confirms new RTX 3060

In a normal world, one might consider the announcement of new RTX 3060s to be a totally inconsistent thing when the RTX 40 line is coming… But we all live in “great” times as we have been able to talk about and Nvidia marketing always surprises us. Anyway, so the greens officially announced 2 new RTX3060s. The first one would be a neutered version limited to 8GB and the second one a GDDR6X vitaminized version of the 3060Ti.

RTX 3060 The “new” RTX 3060 8GB is a card that loses 4GB of memory compared to the original model, but the castration also drastically reduces the memory interface and therefore the bandwidth. The official launch should take place during November and we start dreaming of an aggressive price (even if Santa Claus seems to have been killed by some).

The RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X (that some brands already call RTX 3060 Ti Plus) would be a “simple” upgrade to GDDR6X. But the consequence of this evolution is the passage from a bandwidth of 448 GB/s to a bandwidth of 608 GB/s for the “new” model. On paper, this version could be very close to a GeForce RTX 3070.

Why these “new” RTX 3060?

We can consider several keys to understanding the release of these cards.

The first one is to avoid leaving the field open to Intel whose A750 and A770 are exactly on this positioning.

The second is the cleaning up of the stock of Nvidia’s partners, which seems to be progressing and which therefore frees up opportunities. But this could also mean that Nvidia will take some time to arrive on the mid-range with its new RTX 40.
