If all goes well, the RTX 4070 will be the next graphics card from NVIDIA to see the light of day. In theory, the launch should be on April 13. Nevertheless, what interests us most is the supposed performance of the card. Indeed, via a GeekBench 5 test in OpenCL, we discover that it displays similar performances to an RTX 3080!

RTX 4070 non-Ti: the performance of an RTX 3080 for the consumption of an RTX 3060 Ti?

As a reminder, with its RTX 4070, NVIDIA will continue to offer its ADA Lovelace cards in lower price ranges. Indeed, it is quite likely that the card will see the light of day at $599, which is a similar pricing to that of the RTX 3070 Ti. However, the performance is expected to be much higher.

Via a GeekBench 5 OpenCL capture, we notice that the card performs 177594 pts. Roughly, the score of an RTX 3080. And that’s where things get interesting because this 4070 is announced as being economical from a power point of view. As we discovered yesterday the card should consume between 180W and 190W in game. With these values, we are close to an RTX 3060 Ti in terms of power consumption. As a reminder, an RTX 3080 consumes around 340W in game.

Of course, it’s difficult to make a strong opinion on a card with the readings of a single benchmark. However, this bodes well, the card should offer a serious performance to power ratio.
