Maxsun recently unveiled its customised Intel Arc B580 boards. In doing so, the company made a slight infidelity to NVIDIA by offering custom boards from another GPU manufacturer. In short, what interests us here is the integration of M.2 slots in one of its custom models. In fact, the brand’s B580 iCraft has two M.2 slots, clearly reminiscent of the work done by ASUS China to integrate this type of connector on an RTX 4060 Ti.
Arc B580 iCraft: Maxsun integrates two M.2 slots on a graphics card!
The iCraft model is a large card from Maxsun. With this design, the company is offering an imposing card that uses a heatsink with three fans and is slightly thicker than two slots. However, in addition to its white colour, this model has a little special feature: it hides two M.2 slots under its heatsink!
This is an attempt by the company to exploit the PCIe lines unused by the graphics card equipping its model with two M.2 2280 slots with PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. In fact, the B580’s GPU uses a PCIe 4.0 x8 interface, so there are 8 unused lines – ideal for slipping in two SSDs!
In terms of integration, the two slots are positioned at the rear of the card’s PCB. You’ll also notice that they have a dedicated radiator, while the airflow is provided directly by the graphics card fans. In itself, this is a clever solution if you want to take advantage of numerous storage options on a motherboard that only offers a few M.2 slots… This is particularly true of ITX models, which generally only have one or two slots. As for the size of the card, recent cases (such as the Corsair 2000D) are perfectly capable of carrying this type of card.
