We mentioned this earlier this month: here it is—Lexar’s DDR5 RAM equipped with Chinese memory chips. The brand is launching Thor DDR5 RGB modules featuring chips from CXMT. It’s worth noting that the Chinese manufacturer is gaining popularity as the memory shortage worsens. CXMT is supplying memory while everyone else is scrambling to find it—and this has inevitably had an impact on its stock price since its IPO.

RAM that’s as sleek as ever:
In terms of design, Lexar’s memory remains as appealing as ever. It features a sandblasted aluminum heatsink with a light bar incorporating eight RGB LEDs. Thor and Lexar branding highlights the brand and the product line. In short, it still makes quite an impression.
Believe it or not, it runs at 7200 MT/s!
As for the specs, it’s a dual-channel kit equipped with memory chips from CXMT. The memory operates at 7200 MT/s with timings of CL38-48-48-86 and a voltage of 1.4 V.
Additionally, to get the most out of these frequencies, you may need to update your motherboard’s BIOS. Some manufacturers, such as MSI, ASUS, and Gigabyte, have released BIOS updates optimized for CXMT memory chips. Previously, their frequencies were limited to around 6,000 MT/s due to insufficient support.
But it’s pricey!
Good to know: we already have an indication of this kit’s retail price, since it’s listed on Chinese platforms. The listed price is 3,999 yuan, which is about 515 € after conversion. For comparison, G.Skill kits running at 7,200 MT/s with CL34 timings range from 600 to 800 €, depending on the retailer. Also keep in mind that VAT rates vary.
