As well as CPUs, Intel also offers fans. Admittedly, once you’ve reached a certain level in the range, you don’t use them, but let’s just say that they can come in handy if your CPU Cooler fan or AIO system fails… It gives us a spare wheel. In short, in this article, we learn that the brand is stopping production of its very small model, the RS1.
RS1: Intel halts production of its little radbox!
In simple terms, the RS1 is Intel’s smallest radbox, consisting of a simple aluminium wafer with machined aluminium fins. The whole unit is extremely compact, measuring just 47 mm high and weighing just 260 g. Despite all this, the model stood out when it was launched in 2021 thanks to its new design, which was much more aesthetically pleasing than the old one (yuck).
When you consider which CPUs it came with, it’s clear that the company doesn’t need to do more. In fact, it’s a heatsink that was supplied with Pentium and Celeron processors with low power consumption and a small number of cores, whose TDPs don’t even reach 65W.
However, Intel is stopping production of these cores simply because of the poor sales of the processors they are associated with. Clearly, Pentium and Celeron don’t appeal to many people any more, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the manufacturer stopped these series altogether in the future. The last models saw the light of day in January 2022 with models from the Alder Lake generation, and since then, nothing.
Be that as it may, at CES the company is expected to offer new entry-level processors with the Core Ultra non-K. We’ll see what comes of that.
