As you probably know, G.Skill in partnership with Hwbot is organizing an overclocking competition that will take place in 4 rounds, the ” G.SKILL OC World Cup 2023 Online Qualifier “. We told you about it in this short article. Several members of our Discord decided to participate and we also decided to start the hostilities with a copy of the G.Skill Trident Z5 7800 MT/s CL36 kit available at $340 or 360 euros.

As we said, this competition is organized around 4 benchmarks and the idea is to get the best overall score after completing these four rounds. We started yesterday with the first round dedicated to the memory frequency. The principle is simple, get the highest possible frequency in DDR5 while having a CPU-Z validation and a screenshot (all the rules are here).

We were able to obtain an aircooling frequency of 5069.8 MHz with a single strip on our ROG Maximus Z790 APEX, which currently places us in 11th position. This is already an honorable score because finally, it is not as simple as that. We have already been able to reach 5100 MHz several times but our screenshots are corrupted.

Next step is to make a clean OS and as light as possible before attacking cold tests by placing our memory bar under our DOD. Then we’ll have to focus on the 3 other benchmarks, trying to find some time. Don’t hesitate to visit our Discord if you need more information and good luck to everyone!
