First real image of the Nvidia ARM PC SoC?

While we were expecting a surprise at Computex with the announcement of the Nvidia SoC for Windows PCs, we were disappointed with the RTX 5060. However, Nvidia’s arrival is getting closer and closer, as we now have our first image of the chip and new leaks. Several rumours have hinted at different versions of the Nvidia SoC. A version for mobile products (laptops and consoles) and a version for desktop PCs. A while ago, the Greens tried their hand at combining an RTX with an ARM chip. That was in 2021.

But Nvidia has gone ahead and seems close to launching its chips. MLD has just shown what appears to be a test sample of this famous ARM PC SoC. It claims that the Nvidia solution should soon be installed in an Alienware laptop, more precisely in the fourth quarter of 2025. The aim is to provide a competing solution to AMD’s Strix Halo APU, but with a lower TDP and a higher level of performance.

The Soc would comprise an Arm processor designed with the help of Mediatek, a Blackwell-based iGPU and an NPU. For the last two elements, Nvidia would like to use this SoC as a showcase for its knowledge of gaming and AI.

On the other hand, obviously if MLD’s information is correct, the TDP is announced as being between 80 and 120W. Under these conditions, it’s hard to imagine it in a portable console. It would therefore be destined for gaming laptops, starting with Alienware. At the end of 2024, it was rumoured that the Nvidia chip would be an SoC capable of delivering the power of an RTX 4070 GPU for laptops, operating at around 65W for gaming as a whole. What remains to be seen, however, is Microsoft’s evolution with its Windows on ARM… which for the moment, in our view, remains too restrictive and unstable to convert gamers.
