ASRock recently released a BIOS update for its AM5 motherboards. Version 4.10 was intended to fix boot failure issues with Ryzen 9000X3D processors. While there have been cases where CPUs were successfully revived, according to the latest reports, this update isn’t a miracle solution either.
Ryzen 9000X3D: New cases of failures on ASRock motherboards!
Broadly speaking, there are several user reports on Reddit indicating that BIOS 4.10 does not fix all issues related to ASRock motherboards. For instance, an initial report from user Less-Wealth-1945 states that his PC displayed a black screen while he was using it normally on the desktop. The system was equipped with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with an X870 Pro RS WiFi. In this case, only the RAM’s EXPO profile was active. The CPU and motherboard were sent back for RMA.
In a second report, 0ptimusPayne noted that his system crashed while performing light tasks: browsing the internet and listening to music. Following this, the system failed to POST, despite having the latest BIOS version installed. However, the PC was running on default settings and only restarted after installing a new Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Finally, in a recent report, zeitskeet noted that he had been particularly diligent about keeping up with BIOS updates for his motherboard. As soon as a new version was released, he installed it, and the same was true for version 4.10. In short, the key takeaway here is that his system suddenly refused to boot. It’s worth noting that he’s now on his second Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and there are even visible marks on this one. Despite trying different memory configurations and performing a flashback, nothing worked.
In short, while BIOS 4.10 seems to have improved the situation in some respects, the issue isn’t completely resolved!
