Core i7-13790F and Core i5-13490F: Intel’s surprise?

0

Intel could introduce two new variants in its Raptor Lake range. Until now, these “atypical” processors were intended for the Chinese market like the famous 12490F a few months ago. In the case of the i7-13790F and i5-13490F, the situation is not totally clear and we can legitimately wonder about the purpose of these “new” processors. In detail, we are dealing with CPUs whose graphics part is disabled, but above all which benefit from an increase in cache memory. This little “boost” implies an improvement in performance, especially in games.

Core i7-13790F and Core i5-13490F : New Raptor Lake ?

Both versions benefit from a gain in frequency, mainly on their “turbo” mode. In addition to this gain, the i5-13490F comes with 24 MB of L3 cache, 4 MB more than the 13400F model. The situation is less precise concerning the i7-13790F configuration. This processor will keep the same 16 cores / 24 threads configuration and will benefit from faster frequencies. An increase in cache memory is also expected but no figures have been leaked for the moment. Because it must be said, nothing has been announced at this time. A few weeks ago, nobody had heard about these versions at CES 2023 during the presentation of the non-K series. To date, these new references are not yet listed on the official Intel website.

For the moment, we don’t know how these new processors will behave in games, but that’s clearly the target and we can’t help but think that these versions are being released to counter the arrival of the Ryzen 7000X3D. Because at the same time, on the American continent, the main retailers have applied a drop on the fastest cpu of Intel. The Core i9-13900K now costs only $529 on Microcenter, $70 off its original price of $599, and the Core i7-13700K which goes to the price of $329, a $90 drop.
