Gradually, more and more X870 motherboards are appearing. At the same time, AMD recently announced its Ryzen CPUs. Things are gradually settling down, and this time it’s MSI’s turn to make some announcements.
X870: announcements from MSI!
For the moment, the full range of boards is unknown, with MSI only unveiling the Tomahawk and Pro X870-P WiFi versions. These boards offer new features such as a button to simplify graphics card removal. Otherwise, M.2 SSDs can be installed without tools, with the heatsink held in place by a simple clip. The same applies to the SSD itself, with a tool-free locking mechanism. And as far as WiFi antennas are concerned, no more endless screwing of antennas with cables twisting all over the place!
Admittedly, these features already exist on the highest-end boards, but we’re talking here about an entry/middle-range model. The fact that these features are accessible to even the smallest budgets is always pleasing.
With this, the brand further strengthens the PCIe slots. Three new anchoring points have been added. Clearly, they can take twice the weight of current models. What’s next? Concrete PCIe connectors?

Joking aside, a word about connectivity: we’ve learned thatUSB4 is available on all X870 models. As for the two models presented, WiFi7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are also present.
Finally, in its press release, MSI indicates that new bios will be published to add Ryzen 9000 support to existing AM5 boards.
