A bombshell has just been dropped regarding leaked information on the RTX 5080 and 5090. Famous leaker kopite7kimi has revealed an alleged leak of the specifications for NVIDIA’s next high-end cards on Twitter. Of course, this information should be taken with caution, even if kopite7kimi is known to be a reliable leaker.
RTX 4090 vs RTX 5090 comparison:
RTX 4080 vs RTX 5080 comparison :
NVIDIA seems to be confirming its intention to equip its high-end cards with GDDR7 memory, in line with the mass production recently launched by Hynix and Micron. The new high-end cards, represented by the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, will therefore be equipped with this memory, offering superior performance compared to the current models equipped with GDDR6X, which already powers the cards in the RTX 4070 to RTX 4090 series.
RTX 5090 vs RTX 4090 :
The RTX 5090 has a significantly higher number of FP32 cores (21,760 compared with 16,384 for the RTX 4090), which should offer substantial gains in terms of graphics processing power.
What’s more, the RTX 5090 adopts GDDR7 memory, which offers greater memory bandwidth thanks to its 512-bit bus (compared with 384 bits on the RTX 4090).
However, this increase in power comes at a cost: the power consumption of the RTX 5090 is significantly higher, reaching 600W, compared with 450W for the RTX 4090.
RTX 5080 vs RTX 4080 :
The differences between the RTX 5080 and RTX 4080 are more subtle, but still significant. The number of FP32 cores is slightly higher on the RTX 5080 (10,752 compared with 9,728 for the RTX 4080).
Like the top-of-the-range models, the RTX 5080 also adopts GDDR7 memory, but retains the same 256-bit bus as the RTX 4080. Although this limits the increase in bandwidth to some extent, GDDR7 promises significant improvements in terms of memory performance.
In terms of power consumption, the RTX 5080 is also more energy-hungry, consuming 400W compared with 320W for the RTX 4080.
