Bartlett Lake-S Intel processors coming soon to PCs?

Intel is reportedly preparing for the arrival of its Bartlett Lake-S chips on desktop PCs. Somewhat scornfully unveiled at CES 2025, these processors were not intended for PCs. Yet they offer a number of advantages for gamers. Firstly, they are available in versions without E cores, maximising the raw power of the P cores. What’s more, unlike the Raptor Lake Refresh and Arrow Lake-S processors , which are limited to eight P cores, the Bartlett Lake-S can integrate up to 12, giving it a potential advantage for particularly power-hungry applications. Secondly, these models based solely on P cores should simplify the task of the operating system, which no longer has to juggle between two types of cores with distinct properties to distribute tasks. Finally, these processors manage to deliver this performance without increasing energy consumption excessively, with variants designed to operate at as little as 45W.

Barlett Lake-S: What’s next for Intel?

The socket 1700 resurrected with Bartlett Lake-S?

The other really “disturbing” news is that this new series of CPUs will be compatible with current Intel LGA1700 platforms. If this information is confirmed, it represents quite an interesting upgrade opportunity for owners of 600 and 700 series motherboards , especially in this day and age. While this compatibility can’t match the longevity of AMD’s AM4 platform , which is celebrating nine years of existence while continuing to welcome new processors, Intel’s move is still welcome. Intel is renowned for supporting its consumer platforms for around four years.

In terms of timing, the hybrid version of the Bartlett Lake-Sprocessors was originally scheduled for launch in January 2025, while the P-core-only versions are expected in the third quarter of 2025. An announcement could be made before Computex.
