As you know, the RTX 5090 is just around the corner, and its arrival is clearly imminent. The new generation is due to arrive shortly, and the days of the RTX 4090 and 4090D are already numbered. Rumors suggest that these two models could be discontinued as early as October!
RTX 4090 discontinued in October to pave the way for RTX 5090?
The RTX 5090 is NVIDIA’s new top-of-the-range chip. The latest rumors point to a massive chip containing no less than 24,576 cuda cores capable of reaching 2.9 GHz. As for memory, the Chameleon is said to be bringing out the heavy artillery with GDDR7 memory, a 448-bit bus and a bandwidth of 1,568 GB/s, a clear improvement on the current generation. However, this would have an impact on power consumption, as we reported here.
In short, what interests us here is the card’s launch period, which is fast approaching. Via El Chapuzas Informatico, we learn that the Greens could stop marketing the current 4090 as early as October. The aim would be to gradually empty stocks before the arrival of the new generation. Indeed, it’s hard to get people to adopt a new-generation product if stores are discounting at every turn to run out of the old series.
As we said earlier, these are just rumors, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the greens were already starting to prepare the ground. After all, the series was in its final design phase… Last we heard.
