At the launch of the RTX 5000, some custom card models stood out for their design. Indeed, references such as the ASUS Astral series incorporated a fourth fan, positioned at the rear of the card, near the backplate opening. MSI is now doing the same. MSI has announced that it will be doing the same with its Special Edition series, which has yet to be launched. Gigabyte, with its Aorus Master series, has an equivalent system. However, it’s clearly not as polished as that of its competitors.
AORUS Master: graphics cards also benefit from a fourth fan!
While ASUS and MSI cards have been the most talked-about, Gigabyte’s cards also benefit from this option. However, it is not as well integrated as that of its competitors. The fan (supplied in a bundle) is fitted externally to the rear of the graphics card. However, the card has no dedicated connector, so the fan will have to be plugged directly into the motherboard. What’s more, in the process you end up with a dangling cable that you’ll also have to manage.
As for performance, its appeal seems to be fairly limited. Glitched Online tested this solution. In fact, without this additional fan, the card was operating at between 68 and 69°C (more often at 68°C). The addition of this fourth fan brought the temperature down to between 66 and 67°C. So this umpteenth fan is of minimal interest, and it remains to be seen what impact it will have on the card’s noise levels.
What’s more, if the integration of this fan isn’t as meticulous as that of competitors, it will be up to the user to decide whether or not to use it. This fan will at least have that advantage, especially as it also benefits from inverted blades since it is mounted on a visible part of the board.
