Galax has announced a new graphics card, the RTX 5090D Luna. The special feature of this new model is a fairing that can be easily removed. How can it be removed? Quite simply because it is held in place by a magnet system. This will make life easier for us during cleaning operations, so we don’t have to dismantle the whole heatsink!
RTX 5090D Luna: a magnetic fairing to simplify disassembly!
Broadly speaking, the card is available in white via a Luna version and in black via a Nox model. However, these are the same cards with the same easily removable magnetic shroud. This will make maintenance operations easier, avoiding the need to dismantle the entire heatsink to vacuum between the fins.
Having mentioned this particular feature, the cards are large triple-slot blocks with a rather sober appearance. However, these are customised boards with a redesigned printed circuit. The PCB has 14 layers and a total of 16+6+7 power supply phases. Power is supplied via a single 12V-2×6 connector.
In terms of frequencies, we have learned that there are two versions on offer, with a factory OC model and a version running stock. While the model using the original frequencies operates at 2407 MHz, the overclocked version operates at 2452 MHz, which is always a bonus and means you can put the OC label on the box.
Of course, as this is an RTX 5090, expect high power consumption. Galax recommends using a 1000W power supply. Our little extra tip is to bring along an emergency fire extinguisher in case things start to smell. All joking aside, this is a card we’re unlikely to see in our country, as it seems to be exclusive to the Chinese market. But if it can give some people ideas, why not?
