An RTX 4090 Ti prototype mysteriously found in a garbage can?

There’s a bit of a crazy story going on with NVIDIA cards. A redditor (This_Explanation_514) apparently found a prototype of an RTX 4090 Ti, the famous four-slot card, in a computer equipment bin (hardly). In any case, the model in question is fully assembled, but the reddit post has been deleted and the card returned to NVIDIA.

RTX 4090 Ti: photos of the final card!

The first photo shows the heatsink being assembled on the PCB. The PCB is mounted directly on the edge of the card, while the PCIe slot is positioned at 90°. This assembly allows the card to be placed in the normal position in PC cases, i.e. horizontally.

As for the heatsink, we’ve already had the opportunity to talk about it on several occasions. However, it is said to have been designed to dissipate a lot of watts – 800W were mentioned at the time.

In short, it was an interesting concept that unfortunately never saw the light of day. In the end, NVIDA didn’t need to launch such a monster on the market. It remains to be seen what type of cooling the Chameleon will use for its future RTX 5090, since its TDP is expected to be 500W, compared with 450W for the current RTX 4090.
