It’s obviously another piece of information to be taken with a grain of salt and/or caution, but alleged benchmarks of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 have leaked. The first element that could act as confirmation is a specs detail showing 192 MB of cache. For those of you who haven’t heard in recent weeks, according to leaks relayed at the end of December 2025, we’re talking about a new processor with 16 cores / 32 threads. Logically, it would be fully compatible with the AM5 socket, since it’s an evolution of the Zen 5 family we know. Its main attraction is the presence of 192 MB of L3 cache thanks to 3D V-cache on both CCD’s, where the “classic” 9950x3d remains at 128 MB. The base frequency would be 4.3 GHz, with the boost announced at 5.6 GHz. On the other hand, the TDP is said to rise to 200W…but the other leak brings it down to 170W.

Benchmarks that confirm…but bring us nothing more

Ryzen 9950X3D2

The first leak comes from PassMark, and some will consider it disappointing. Indeed, the alleged leak highlights very similar scores between this new 9950x3D2 and the current 9950x3D, which is hardly shocking. On the comparison page, the 9950x3D2 appears at 71,585 CPU mark points, against 70,154 for the 9950x3D, and the single thread is even slightly behind, at 4,716 vs. 4,739.

A Geekbench benchmark has also been leaked. More precise, it too should be treated with caution. While we seem to have a second confirmation concerning the amount of L3 cache and its distribution, the test on a motherboard with 96 GB of DDR5-4800 also raises questions. Here again, this type of test can’t really shed any light on the potential of this future reference.

For the time being, we’ll have to be satisfied with these two benchmarks. While some will be disappointed, they do strengthen the case for this reference’s imminent arrival. Caching being the key issue, it’s in games and applications that we’ll really be able to make up our minds. Many are hoping for an official announcement at CES 2026 in the next few days. However, no official communication from AMD has yet been made in this regard.
