Last week, we told you about MSI’s 105W TDP profile. Once activated, this profile delivered a measured 13% performance improvement on Cinebench for the Ryzen 7 9700X. However, some might be reluctant to activate it, because yes, it does run the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X outside their default settings. In the event of a failure, this is not supported, except…
105W TDP profiles, towards AMD guaranteeing support!
Via Hassan Mujtaba‘s Twitter profile, we’ve learned that AMD has approved warranty support for this profile. This means that if you have a problem with your CPU and this profile was activated, you will be covered by AMD support. This is good news, as you’ll be able to increase the performance of your CPU slightly while benefiting from a warranty!
For the time being, this profile is supplied by motherboard manufacturers in addition to AGESA 1.2.0.1, as is the case with MSI in particular, but it will arrive directly packaged in AGESA 1.2.0.2. However, this new update will not arrive until the end of September. Finally, if it’s to support this kind of profile, wouldn’t it have been simpler for AMD to simply push the TDPs of these processors to match those of the Ryzen 7000?
